CPI Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Many argue that 1968 was the most memorable year in United States history. America introduced the first Boeing 747, orbited the moon and McDonald’s sold its first Big Mac. This year also marks the golden anniversary of the founding year of Creative Plastics, Inc.
Creative Plastics Inc. humbly ventured into thermoforming as an industry pioneer with a vintage hand oven on the original airport site of Korn Field. The company was founded in 1968 by Wayne F. Korn as an outside source of thermoformed plastic components being used by one nearby travel trailer manufacturer. Now, Creative Plastics International has emerged an experienced industry leader with many loyal, skilled and well-trained employees producing products that have been sold around the world to over one hundred customers.
Today, Wayne’s cousin, Keith Korn and son, Randy Korn, manage day to day operations. The company has grown into a multi-million-dollar corporation. The company’s success has hinged on its commitment to adapting its capabilities to the needs of the industries that it serves by investing in equipment and key acquisitions. CPI employs approximately 22 residents of Shelby and surrounding counties. CPI’s footprint in the community has expanded over the past fifty years with continued investments in property, production, warehouse and office buildings.

Creative Plastics International, Inc. announced today that it has acquired the thermoforming division assets of SeaGate Plastics in Tecumseh, Michigan. This production will be transferred to Creative Plastics facilities, located along the I75 corridor near Jackson Center, Ohio.
Kevin Fink, President of SeaGate Plastics stressed that “While SeaGate has spun off its thermoform operation, we will continue to operate the extrusion facilities in both Ohio and Michigan.”
Gerald Wurm, President of Creative Plastics stated that the SeaGate customers “can continue to expect high quality products with uninterrupted supply and top notch service. This transfer will be advantageous to SeaGate customers who will now have access to other types of vac grade materials, larger part sizes of up to 8 x 10 feet, pressure forming, higher volume rotary forming and roll fed inline product offerings.”

The Wurm family announced today that it has acquired majority assets of Creative Plastics, Inc. Creative Plastics has facilities near Jackson Center, Ohio.
Creative Plastics, established in 1968, is an ISO 9001 registered fabricator of vacuum and pressureformed ABS, PVC, Polyethylene, Polystyrene and Plexiglas composites. Its thermoformed products are primarily used in the production and assembly of medical equipment, office furniture and retail displays, residential construction and a variety of other products for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the industrial, specialty vehicle and travel trailer industries, including reusable shipping containers and systems for material handling.
